autop has existed as a company, in different constellations and under different names, for
over 50 years. Throughout this time, autop has been active in the business of supplying garage
equipment, while focussing on lifting-technology.
In
1949, Franz Hörnstein founded a company specializing in hydraulic lifting technology
for automotive garages in Biberach (Swabia). In
1965, Egon Senger founded PERKUTE in Rheine.
This is where the well-known "Trio Stand" originated. By
1967, the company entered into the
market for cleaning technology.
By
1972, people were talking about the so-called "lifting station" for automotive garages.
By
1982, the name had changed to "check-in", a term which is now synonymous with autop.
This is also the year in which Franz Hörnstein und Egon Senger began collaborating under the
name of autop. The formal merger of the two companies occurred in
1989, followed by the
successive consolidation of production and management at Rheine (Westphalia).
Since then, autop has become one of the leading manufacturers of hydraulic in-ground lifts,
with internal distribution and customer service centres in Heilbronn and Rheine as well as a
national/international distribution network.
In
1996, autop became a full subsidiary of the Danish
STENHØJ-Group.
autop Maschinenbau GmbH has been the company's name since 2001 - the cleaning
technology-branch, part of the business since
1967, was given autonomy under the name of
PERKUTE Maschinenbau GmbH. PERKUTE'S company seat is not far from the old one.
We celebrated the 25th anniversary of autop in
2007 - with more
than 50 years worth of experience in the business of supplying automotive garages.
